This Month’s Tip: Get with the Social Networks…
Social networks are quickly infiltrating the poker world. More and more pros are
using their social network outlets to share live updates of their online or tourney
progress, chip counts and other personal news with their fans and friends. So what
does that mean for poker affiliates? Use social networking sites to access a huge
base of potential players, which is free for you to tap into. Think of community
sites such as Facebook and Twitter as tools to be leveraged to increase the strength
of your business. Use them to extend the scope of your site, reach more players,
increase contact points with your current players and the strength of your brand.

Here’s a ‘quick win’ tactic which is easy to implement. As a Poker Affiliate, create
a group on ‘Facebook’. For example, if you owned a coaching site called
Pokerhelm.com, you could create a group called Pokerhelm and invite all your members
to it. The members can in turn invite their friends and their friends invite their
friends … and soon, Pokerhelm could potentially take over the world… The more
‘friends’ your group has, the more potential players you can direct to your site and
in turn, to Full Tilt Poker. You can use these groups, not only to communicate
current promotions you may be hosting such as private tournaments, but also to give
snapshots or teasers of what visitors and players can find on your site. Include a
couple of your strategy articles or room reviews. And make sure to create an
exclusive offer that only Facebook member (or Twitter or Bebo members) can take up.
Allow your members to grow your base of players, in turn, feeding your synergy
monster. Social networking - what’s not to like?
